There's a new Android Tablet PC available now, and it's making a lot of news. The Eken Apad A8 Android Tablet PC runs the latest version of Google new Android 2.2 operating system. The very first android tablet to use this new updated version. And the features and functions are second to none. While most of the android tablets out there in the past have used slower processors, and left a desire for speed from owners, the Apad A8 actually utilizes a newer, and much faster 1Ghz CPU and it makes the experience smooth and fast, something you would expect from a tablet that was 3 times the price.
So how does it compare with other tablet PCs out there? Good question, and I'll do my best to answer it. Having used it for the last two weeks, I can honestly say it is a keeper, and one that I go back to all the time - even though I have my iPad.
Google Android Tablet Pc 10
While everyone is all about the iPad, there's no denying that there is actually a very big user base out there that simply won't buy and Apple product, both because they don't have some function or feature that they need, or based simply on the very high price. And that's where all of these Android Tablets come into play. They offer many of the same functions offered by iPad, but do so at a price that is less than half of the lowest entry level model.
The A8 Apad is a higher end Android tablet, without the higher price. At under 0.00 it makes the perfect pc for someone that is not quite sure if they want to make a large investment into tablets. It really is about the same price as a netbook, which won't break the bank.
It also provides access to the Android Market, which is very similar to the App Store, except there seem to be a lot more games and applications that are free, as opposed to paid. A lot of the better iPad apps are also released on the Android Market, so games like Angry Birds and other popular apps are out there for the Apad too.
What I like so much about this tablet is the fact that it supports Flash 10.1 as well as has a built in camera and options to increase the storage capacity via micro sd transflash cards. By having flash support, you really can have the whole internet by being able to view video content regardless of the page you're visiting. The built in camera has also allowed me to sit on the sofa and video chat in skype with ease.
Much like the iPad, it also has a g-sensor, that recognizes when you're moving or turning the unit around. The screen auto adjust to the mode you're holding it in. And gaming is as smooth as can be, because just like my iPad, I use the whole tablet as my controller to move left right, up and down, etc...
In closing, for the budget conscious buyer, who wants the tablet pc experience without the huge expense of spending 0.00 to give it a go, this Android Tablet is a good option. You get all of the features and the whole tablet PC experience, without the high price.

Android 3.0 Honeycomb
Specifically optimized for devices with larger screen sizes such as tablets, the Android 3.0 platform (dubbed Honeycomb) introduces a brand new, truly virtual and "holographic" UI design. With five customizable home screens, you can easily access your favorite live widgets or application shortcuts. Each screen features a familiar launcher to access to all installed applications, as well as a Search box for universal search of apps, contacts, media files, web content, and more.
Multitasking in Android 3.0 is easier than ever, and you can use the Recent Apps list in the System Bar to see the tasks underway and quickly jump from one application context to another. You'll even see a snapshot of the last screen viewed in that app as a visual reminder. The Android onscreen keyboard has also been redesigned to make entering text fast and accurate on larger screen sizes.
Other features in Android 3.0 Honeycomb include:
- Scrollable and stacked widgets let you scroll or flick through content within the widget itself, on the home page, without opening the application.
- Unobtrusive notification system displays icons for different notifications (messages, downloads, system updates, etc.) in the lower right corner. Just touch the digital time display to open the entire notification panel.
